The overall purpose is to show how to replace a cable base connection supporting USB protocol by a proximity radio based connection. The demonstration is based on similar functionalities than current 60GHz proximity RF circuits but integrating the solution (Radio + Digital) in a single SoC designed in 28FDSOI technology to target a significant increase in bandwidth (up to 10Gb/s) while maintaining a comparable power budget. The initial board would include current circuit prototype and will be used to support the development of the final board integrating the new SoC.
This initial board would be used as a reference for performances comparison with the final board. The demonstration will confirm the ease of use as cable replacement and such solution can be used in many application areas such as PC and mobile connection, docking station, but also for robust, life proof connector-less devices suitable for many consumer or industrial applications.
